Thumb Cookies

12 Tbl. margarine
12 Tbl. confectioners sugar
2 beaten egg yolks
2 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
About 2 cups sifted flour
Raspberry preserves

1. Cream margarine and sugar.
2. Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat well.
3. Add enough flour for a nice dough that's not too dry.
4. Make quarter-sized balls of dough.
5. Place on baking sheet.
6. Make a dent in the balls with your thumb.
7. Fill dent with raspberry preserves.
8. Brush with egg whites.
9. Bake about 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

Cook's Comments :
The original recipe called these cookies, Ice Cream Cookies. Since I modified everything about them, I decided I'd better rename them too!
